  25. AVI (audio/video interleaved) files contain full-color animations and
  26. use several, mostly lossy, compression schemes similar to JPEG/MPEG.
  27. FLCs are a lot like Amiga ANIMs--in fact the same guy, Jim Kent, has
  28. been associated with both formats.  FLCs contain 8-bit (256 color)
  29. animations compressed with lossless delta and run-length encoding.

  31. AVI is one of the image formats supported by HIIP, the image loader and
  32. saver package that will ship with LW.  We haven't had a chance to play
  33. with it much yet, so I can't say what the extent of that support will
  34. be, but it appears that the saver is a black box--you won't be able to
  35. set things like the codec, data rate, keyframe rate, image quality and
  36. so on.
